DEAL or No Deal host Noel Edmonds has tragically revealed he tried to kill himself, after fraudsters took him “to the brink of emotional annihilation”.
The popular host, 68, said corrupt financiers destroyed his former business, leaving him thinking he had no other way out.
Speaking of the scam, Noel revealed: “Until these criminals took me to the brink of emotional annihilation, I’d always felt those who opt out by taking their own lives were selfish and cowardly.
“But having been cast into that bottomless dark space devoid of logic and reason, I have a much deeper understanding of life without hope.
“I seek no sympathy and feel no shame in admitting that on the evening of January 18, 2005, I attempted to end the overwhelming mental pain which had consumed my whole being.”
Noel then thanked the emergency services for helping him through the difficult period.
He added: “The fact I did not become another suicide statistic is solely due to the swift response of a Devon ambulance crew and compassionate support of the Priory in Bristol.”

Noel revealed that following his tragic suicide attempt, he had gone on to donate to organisations to help those in a similar position.
He revealed: “Subsequently, I have donated generously and gratefully to The Samaritans and privately I use my experience to comfort and support others for whom life has no hope.
“Please be kind, don’t be judgmental – life without hope is no life,” he said.
Noel has presented almost 3,000 episodes of Deal or No Deal and has given out over £40 million in prize money.
It was announced the much-loved game of chance would be coming to an end last year, with Noel taking the classic programme on tour around the country to mark the end of an era.
